Education Initiatives

The Hamilton Community Foundation created a strategic plan to help guide our work and includes three major goals.

One of the goals is to heighten education opportunities for our area residents by  partnering with current education systems to develop and expand programs that focus on college access and achievement.

The Education Committee of the Foundation partnered with the local school districts, Miami University, business advisory groups, parents and community volunteers to identify and address issues related to education.    The need for further support in several areas became apparent as a result of the collaborative work.  Responding to the need, the Hamilton Community Foundation expanded its reach into the educational needs of the community through several new initiatives.

Through the support of the Foundation’s unrestricted funds, these programs offer students and parents pertinent information and valuable resources to ensure success at the high school and post-secondary levels.

Dave Murray from the National Center for College Costs provides innovative programs and products that help students and their parents prepare for higher education.

Youth Exploring Success (YES) Program began in 2010 with a mission of providing additional one−to−one support to students in grades 9-12 for the specific purpose of guiding their academic and career goals to facilitate a smooth transition from high school to post-secondary education and/or training.  The program supports approximately 85 students at the Hamilton Freshmen Building and Hamilton High School.
