Foundation Adds Impact to BTW Community Center
The Foundation granted $100,000 this year to Great Miami Valley YMCA for continued operations at the Booker T. Washington Community Center (BTW). Nearly 100 youngsters use the BTW Center daily. Under the professional management of the YMCA, financial backing and collaboration come from the Hamilton Community Foundation, City of Hamilton, Fitton Center for Creative Arts, Miami University, Primary Health Solutions, Supports to Encourage Low Income Families, Butler County United Way and Boys and Girls Clubs.
Youth programming includes swimming, homework help, physical activities and arts and crafts. Adult activities include fitness Leagues, blood pressure checks, speakers, assistance filing income taxes and GED classes.
The BTW Center was built in 1918 as a safe haven for area children to learn and play. Its slogan: "Celebrating our past, upholding our vision and looking toward our future."
