Grant to Fire Department helps purchase safety equipment

May 14, 2018

When the Trenton Fire Department shared their need to purchase a new Rescue Chain Saw, the Hanover Life Squad fund committee granted them the funds needed. The  current saw was more than 20 years old and they were not able to find parts any longer.  The new Rescue Chain Saw allows firefighters to ventilate roofs therefore making the interior safer for entry to rescue persons and to extinguish the fire.

"Most ventilation is done by cutting holes in the roof of structures and the new saw with its depth gauge will prevent firefighters from cutting too deep into the roof and weakening the structure. This is a safety feature that we did not have on our old saw," said Trenton Fire Department Chief, Darrell J. Yater.

The Hanover Life Squad, Inc. Fund is an endowment supporting area emergency services.  Grants from this fund support local EMS and fire services, including equipment purchases, staffing, training and supplies.
