Harry T. Wilks Hamilton Celebrates Education
Excitement was in the air at the 14th Hamilton Celebrates Education event in October, as educators were honored and their winning grant projects were highlighted.
Thirteen teachers were nominated for the Educator of the Year award, and each was recognized at the event. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of Melynda Caswell as Educator of the Year. Melynda teaches music at Ridgeway Elementary.
“It’s humbling to be chosen. This is an amazing honor,” she said upon accepting the award. “We make a life by what we get but we make a living by what we give.”
Seven classroom grants were awarded: Badin High School (Art & Soul: Walks of Art) Brookwood Elementary (Hands on Robotics and Rubik’s Cube Education), Fairwood Elementary (Enhancing Student Learning with FOSS Kits), Ridgeway Elementary (Fine Motor Fun and Wiggle, Move and Learn) and Riverview Elementary (Snack Cart Art Project).
